We sometimes have a group of Banded Mongooses in our garden. They live in the small game park next to our house, but they sometimes visit us to dig in our lawn. They are looking for beetles, grubs and perhaps termites, to eat. They do not dig very deeply, but when they are finished eating, they leave lots of little holes all over our garden. They live in groups, usually numbering more than 20, and sometimes they can be very big groups. They are very quick-witted animals, keep a watchful eye out for any danger, and if any is noticed, warn each other with chirping sounds. They often stand up on their back legs to have a look around. They live in burrows, and they dive into them quickly if there is a threat to them.
